Let's Pray For Our Church & Community

The Old Testament prophet Jeremiah lived around the year 600 BC.  Throughout his 40 year ministry people were so angry about his messages about the ongoing judgment of God that Jeremiah was constantly mistreated.  Yet even as his country was facing disaster, death, and deportation God spoke some amazing words to hope to Jeremiah.

In Jeremiah chapter 33:3 God said, "Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’  In the face of constant trouble Jeremiah had the privilege of turning to God with all of his thoughts, requests, and concerns.  As people of faith we still have the great privilege of to carry everything to God in prayer.

One of the best expressions of trust in God is when people pray.  When we don’t pray, we don’t call to Him, we don’t ask for anything from God, we can expect very little because the Bible also says that apart from God we can do nothing.  On the other hand when we place put our problems into His hands and we depend upon Him for our strength, we can expect God to hear and answer our prayers.

Prayer an essential part of our individual walk with God.  Prayer is the center of family life.  In addition, we want to make prayer a central part of a central part of our church so that men might be saved and come to knowledge of Jesus Christ.

If we desire to see revival and transformation in our church, our community, and our country God has given us a path to pursue.  The path to revival is not politics—although we can pray for our leaders.  The path to revival is not prosperity—although we can pray for God’s blessings.  The path to revival and change is simply prayer.

With this in mind we are asking Individuals, couples, and families to pray 1 hour each week for our church and community.  You can set aside a special day for a longer prayer focus / time of fasting or you can pray for about 10 minutes each day.  A daily prayer guide based on the Lord’s Prayer is posted on the City along with 10 minute companion videos.

Thanks for praying with us.  If you have a prayer request that you would like to share, you can post it on the City or you can text the church office at (813) 994-9363.  We believe that prayer is powerful and effective (James 5:16), and we are happy to pray with you or for you at any time.  Please let us know if you wish to keep your request confidential with pastor / elders or if you wish to share it within the church family (it may be sent out anonymously if you wish).
